The
Social Capital Foundation (TSCF) is an independent non-profit, non-governmental
organization, free of any established political or economic interest, that
pursues the promotion of social capital and social cohesion. It is based in
Brussels.
TSCF
brings together people and organizations who would like to contribute to a
better future by reinforcing the social link between people, as opposed to the
more narrow economic focus that has held sway for the past three decades or
more.
Social
Capital is about revitalizing social cohesiveness, and can be defined as a
set of mental dispositions and attitudes favoring cooperative behaviors within
society. TSCF's orientation emphasizes the necessary social dimension of the
market economy, the pivotal role of the middle class in modern society, the
necessity for improvement of social cooperation and participation, and the
preservation of cultural identity for community integration.
TSCF
supports the development of approaches and proposals that will contribute to
re-orientating governmental and corporate policies - as well as individual
behaviors on a daily basis. It does this through socio-economic research,
publication, events, and by any means that will help restore the community link
and illuminate positive responses to the contemporary transformations. TSCF
is the editor of The International Scope Review, one of the most international
peer-reviewed academic journals in the social and economic sciences.
